Phillies Lose Bryce Harper to Thumb Injury

The Philadelphia Phillies will be without reigning NL MVP #BryceHarper for the next 6 to 8 weeks due to a fractured left thumb. The injury occurred when Harper took a 97-mph fastball from Blake Snell off the thumb on June 25. Harper had surgery to repair the damage and was placed on the injured list. Harper is hitting .318 with 15 home runs and 48 RBI for the season.


Golden State Warriors Win NBA Championship

For the fourth time since 2015, the Golden State Warriors are NBA Champions. They took down the Boston Celtics in six games, closing the series with a 103-90 win in Game 6. #StephCurry scored 34 points in the final match and won NBA Finals MVP for the first time. This title was the most unexpected of the four after coming off-seasons, with 15 wins in 2019-2020 and 39 wins in 2020-2021.


Colorado Avalanche Win Stanley Cup

The Colorado Avalanche took down the Tampa Bay Lighting in Game 6 of the NHL Stanley Cup Finals on June 26 by 2-1 to win the championship. In addition to taking down the two-time defending champions, the Avalanche won their first championship in 21 years and third overall #StanleyCup. The title was a process in the making after finishing dead last in the NHL in 2016-2017. They lost in the first round of the playoffs in 2018 and the second round in the past three seasons.


Big Names Leave PGA Tour for LIV Golf

Kevin Na was the first PGA Tour player to leave the #PGATour for LIV Golf. Now other prominent names have followed suit. LIV Golf is financed by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia. The name is a reference to the Roman numeral for 54. There is no cut in these events, and players have been paid considerable sums to commit to the series. Prominent players who have signed are Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia, Martin Kaymer, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, Lee Westwood, Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel, and Graeme McDowell.
